Ladders and Lofts

Last night I dreamt of a man I have (in reality) never met. I have however met him many times in my dreams. He some times looks a little different then normal but I always know that it is him, not just because I recognise his voice but also because he has a certain way about him and he always has the same smile.

Anyway he was in my dreams last night. In my dream I was in my house (In reality it is not my house, but again it is a place I have gone before in my dreams) I was in the kitchen trying to climb a broken ladder. it was a splintered wooden white ladder with hooks on the end (like that of a bunk bed) I was trying to attach the hooks to a picture rail. Using the window ledge (that was half way up the wall) I climbed through the ceiling on the kitchen cupboard on to a landing, then putting the ladder (that I had brought up with me) against a bookcase. I climbed the bookcase till I ran out of ladder and pushed the books (An anthology of the Beatles) off the top of the bookcase, in order to got to what looked like loose wallpaper. On pealing the wallpaper back it reveled four runs on a ladder and a loft hatch. As I clambered through the hatch I found that my loft was full of people. The first one asked me why I had not used the stairs and pointed to the corner of the room. On looking around the room I saw a familiar face, the smiling clean shaven face of my male friend I had not seen for a while.

I suddenly remembered that I had been cooking dinner that is why I was in the kitchen in the first place.

"Have you all eaten?" I asked the room
"Yes thanks."
Turning to my friend "How did you all get up here?"
"We have always been here."

We sit side by side on the floor and watch two of his party playing a board game. He soon falls asleep on my shoulder, I stroke the side of his face comfortingly to find he has a beard.

"How long have we been sat here?" I ask someone.
"We have always been here."
